Do you suffer from chronic venous insufficiency (CVI)? At Alliance Cosmetic Center, we offer ClosureFast™ – a minimally invasive treatment procedure that utilizes radiofrequency energy (RF) to effectively treat patients with varicose veins or CVI.
About the ClosureFast™ Procedure
As mentioned, the ClosureFast™ Procedure uses radiofrequency energy to precisely and effectively treat patients with varicose veins or CVI. You might be asking, “How does it work?” Here’s a quick overview:
- The ClosureFast™ catheter heats a 7 cm vein segment in one twenty-second interval.
- The heat produced by the catheter effectively shrinks and collapses the target vein. This occludes the vessel and creates a fibrotic seal.
- To automatically regulate therapeutic power, there is a controlled feedback mechanism that will monitor the intravascular heat monitors in real time.
Faster Recovery with Less Pain and Bruising
Studies show that the ClosureFast™ procedure results in faster recovery with less pain, bruising, and complications compared to other procedures. Typically, a patient should be able to resume normal activities within a few days after the treatment. Furthermore, most patients report a significant improvement in their symptoms within 1-2 weeks after the procedure.
The ClosureFast™ procedure is minimally invasive compared to vein stripping. Using the ClosureFast™ procedure, the vein is closed using heat delivered by a catheter that is inserted through a small incision below the knee. It is often performed in an outpatient setting, usually using regional or local anesthesia. The operation takes approximately 45-60 minutes. On the other hand, vein stripping is performed in an operating room under general anesthesia.
Potential Risks and Complications
Just like any other medical interventions, there are associated risks and complications with the ClosureFast™ procedure. Our vein specialists will work closely with you to determine your eligibility for the procedure. With a full assessment, they will determine if you have any conditions or medical history that can present any risks. They will also inform you regarding the potential complications associated with the ClosureFast™ procedure, such as paresthesia (numbness or tingling), pulmonary embolism, vessel perforation, infection, skin discoloration, and/or skin burn.
At Alliance Cosmetic Center, our physicians can help you determine if the ClosureFast™ procedure is the right option for your vein problem.
